Petite enfance - Early Childhood Education

Brief description:
In June 2016, Champlain College offered attestation of collegial studies in Early Childhood Education, and the plan is to offer another one in August 2017.
The goals of this program are twofold: to provide students with required skills in the areas of integrated computer software, mathematics, English and French, in order to prepare students to enter into an AEC in Early Childhood Education at Champlain College Saint-Lambert, and to enable a person to develop the required skills to work as an Early Childhood Educator of children from 0 to 12 years of age.

Admission Requirements for the Preparatory Course:
  1. Students must be of First Nations heritage.
  2. Students must have completed Secondary IV (grade 10)* high school, or have received instruction deemed sufficient by the Kahnawake FNRAEC.
  3. Students must be interested in becoming more proficient in French and English, particularly in their oral communication skills and reading comprehension.
  4. Applicants are required to take Math, English and French entrance exams.
  5. Prospective candidates must complete an employment and training evaluation from Tewatohnihsak’tha (or their local Employment and Training Office), and will be interviewed prior to admission to the program to verify their qualifications, aptitude and attitude.
*Because the courses are all at Sec IV-V level of instruction, students may be able to complete missing credits for graduate with a DES from the Québec education system.
