The Montreal Urban Service Center of the First Nations Human Resources Development Commission, Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, Native Montreal, Native Friendship Centre of Montreal, Projet Autochtones Québec and the Kahnawake First Nations Regional Adult Education Center have come together to offer this unique service in the heart of downtown Montreal.  These partners have been working together since 2018 to find ways to better meet the needs of Indigenous adult learners who live in Montreal.  The partners are proud to say they think they have figured it out!

Register at the CSU in Montreal, located at 1117 Ste-Catherine W suite 720 anytime if you wish to learn more about getting:
  • a high school diploma;
  • certified to get a job;
  • the prerequisites they need to enter a vocational training program;
  • accompaniment and referral services to find their path;
  • stronger reading and writing skills;
  • stronger computer skills.

The Indigenous adult education classes will be held every day at the CSU.  Come find out what makes this adult education class different from others.

When you choose to register in the Kanekó:ta Program, and take the next step towards your future, you may do so in the following ways:
  1. Talk to your case worker at anyone of the partner organizations
  2. Bring two out of these three IDs: medicare card, birth certificate or band card and your latest transcript (if you have it)
  3. Complete the adult education registration form, consent form, and code of conduct (look left)
  4. Meet with the adult education counselor or teacher to make a plan
  5. You will receive a call to start classes
  6. Receive your schedule on your first day of classes
  7. Start attending classes regularly
  8. Do your best
  9. Stick to your plan and achieve your objective
